Good product,
Product works as described. Battery capacity could be a little larger but it does increase the iPod battery life. The only bad thing about this product is the switch on the bottom. They break off while trying to switch the product on and off. This does not render it useless just a little aggravating. U have to use something small to flip the switch on the inside. But other than that it’s pretty decent.

|Nice ergonomic design, poor capacity,
This is a great little carry case for the iPod. It is slightly rubbery, which makes the iPod much easier to hold onto. All of the buttons are accessible through the case, and it is an attractive look as well.
Electrically, after 4 or 5 charge cycles, the battery capacity fell off dramatically on the two I purchased. These gave several hours of added life the first few times, but now they fall off much more quickly, and are down to one bar (on the 4-bar LED battery display) after just an hour or two. M

|Some intriguing new features, but not everything you’d want; quality is fine for ordinary use but not professional,
 Â
 Â
 Â
This is a decent low-end printer with a few very cool features, and satisfactory but not stellar performance. It would be the ideal printer for a small family, especially with children who like to print things (and what kids don’t like to print things). I’m going to quickly go through the features and mention what I’ve experienced after playing with it for a few days; where relevant, I’ll compare its features to my slightly more expensive Canon printer.
SETUP:
The printer’s nicely packed, and easy to put together. The only trick I had was installing the printer cartridges. Like another reviewer said, the printer cartridges don’t go in exactly the way the diagram or the illustrated video on the printer’s screen suggests. If you make a mistake, it will say that they’re not installed, and then you can’t just go fix the mistake because it doesn’t recognize you’ve fixed it unless you power off and power on again. One other thing I like is that the whole thing comes with a handy canvas carrying tote. That’ll be nice because I may occasionally bring it home.
WIRELESS:
Setting up this printer as a wireless printer was extremely easy. I’ve setup about 5 different wireless printers over the past year and this was by far the easiest. What made it simple was that the instructions on the printer’s screen show you exactly how to connect it to a local wireless point, and then when you install the software on the screen it automatically recognizes the printer as there to be used. Easy stuff.
PHOTOS:
It’s advertised as a photo printer, and it does okay with photos but not great. I printed an 8.5 x 11 glossy of my family on quality photo paper and from far away it looks fine, but if you get close you’ll see evidence of print lines. It’s especially evident on skin, where you can see the little lines that make it almost look like your subjects had been sleeping on corduroy pants and had little fading line indentations left behind.
PRINTING:
For other kinds of print jobs, where fine details are less important, the printer does a good job and things look nice. It’s pretty slow, though. It’s not nearly fast enough for most professional office use, so the speed alone pretty much qualifies this as a home use printer. My Canon PIXMA MX860, for example, is quite a bit faster, and prints better photos. Of course, that one is bulkier than this one, and costs a bit more.
SCANNING:
The Photosmart scans just fine, though if you want any kind of control you have to scan from the software that installs on your computer with the driver. I tried scanning a page of text to send to my computer using just the controls on the printer and it ended up scanning only half of the page, and inverting the layout from the way it was actually placed on the scan bed. You can only scan one page at a time – there’s no feeding.
Additionally, it only scans things as images, that it can send either as .jpg or .pdf files. That means you can’t produce an editable text document from a scan unless you have additional software that can convert the images into such. My Canon Pixma MX860 does give me the option to create .txt files.
COPY:
Works fine, exactly as you’d expect.
FAX:
Doesn’t exist. This is not a fax machine, so the “All-in-One” might be a bit of a misnomer – then again, who uses fax machines anymore? I have fax capability on all my other printers and I’ve never had the need to use it. When I absolutely need to fax, I use my office’s dedicated machine. One more reason, though, that this wouldn’t work as an all-in-one office printer even for a small office, since sometimes business use requires faxing.
WEB:
There are two web features this comes with. One, apparently, doesn’t work yet (as of June 30, 2010) but is (allegedly) coming soon. That’s the “ePrint” function, that allows a registered user to print to this printer from anywhere on the web, even if they aren’t anywhere close to the printer. I’d love to be able to print out stuff I’ll need the next day from home, so it’ll be ready for me when I arrive at my office, so this is a feature I’m looking forward to.
The other feature is what’s called “Print Apps” – basically, you register for print apps online at HPs site (several will be already set up for you if you accept the Web features during setup … in fact, right now as far as I can tell every one of the available apps is already set up for you, though it looks like they are planning to have a lot more apps.) Anyhow, the webapps allow you to print directly from the web. I kind of like the Sudoku app, that allows me to print Sudoku puzzles directly from the printer. There’s also a…

|A nice basic photo printer with a few extra features,
 Â
Customer Video Review Length:: 7:34 Mins
UPDATE Oct 2010: I printed probably about 4 or 5 4×6 prints, and maybe 6 or 7 8×10 prints and now it’s out of ink. While I’m fine with using this printer for printing snapshots for photo albums in the 4×6 size(or black and white normal documents), when you get to 8×10 size photos, I wasn’t happy with the sharpness, color or detail. My camera is an SLR, so they can be blown up quite big. As I pointed out in the video review, the colors will vary widely from what you see on your monitor before printing. And this is a whole ‘nother bag of worms based on your monitor being in RGB and printers being in CMYK color calibration. But it seemed like a bigger difference then I’m used to.
UPDATE June 2010: An Amazon staffer has informed me “I work with Amazon and wanted to confirm that the paper included with the product does not come with every printer. This was only for the trial versions.” That was something I thought was so great about this particular product, but please disregard it in my video review.
I just got this HP photosmart printer and while it has some aspects of it I don’t personally like, I think it will be a nice basic photo printer for those with limited computer abilities, or who just want something easy to use that’s an attractive looking machine. It’s all about having realistic expectations for the price point. If you have a point and shoot you use for fun, this just may be up your alley. If you’re into DSLR cameras and editing photos, this might be a little lowbrow for your taste.
Pros:
- IPHONE USERS: right after finishing this review, I went app surfing, and found the motherlode. It’s called HP iPrint 3.0, its fantastic and free! Printed photos instantly over wifi, I also used it with my grocery IQ app and printed coupons. Another app features is you can scan directly to your phone for emailing documents.
- Beyond easy to get started. The wireless setup was a pinch in comparison to the hassles I had connecting my brother printer wirelessly.
- scanning black and white documents and photos worked fine. Copying black and white was also as expected.
- it prints out photos fast.
- attractive and will match nicely with other HP products.
- Besides the reusable little zipper bag in my video, there was another larger one that the printer was in. Nice to have a new reusable for the grocery store, and I really admire the effort HP made with making the packaging as eco friendly as possible.
- Eprint feature is now working, and working very well with no problems. You can print to your printer from anywhere based on the printer having its own email address assigned to it.
Cons:
- noisy!
- doesn’t have a lot of settings you can customize to your taste directly on the printer. I like to be able to change DPI for different projects, or color contrast, choose PDF or JPG etc if needed. You can pick the paper type and “normal, best” quality printer on your computer when printing to it.
- the color cartridge is just one, instead of separating into three cartridges.
- It’s hard to tell over video, but the colors just weren’t what I was hoping for. The photos I printed had more yellow/orange/green tones then the original photos. Recently I was doing my own passport renewal photo. I finally got it right and went to print. I was wearing a pink shirt, and it blew out the pink and overly saturated it. I had to change and start over because I knew that wouldn’t be acceptable.
- a couple things the software installed that are unnecessary and you’re not given an opportunity to pick and choose when you start the software. For instance: a weird extra internet toolbar, etc. I hate extra things that have really nothing to do with the product and are just used to shove the brand in your face, or that HP partnered with or got paid to add to sneak it in and put it on my computer.

|Elgato missed an opportunity,
I’ve been using Elgato’s digital-analog TV tuner for a year and was happy with it. So I’m surprised how poor the quality of this product. I think they missed an opportunity to really understand their user base and what we might use this device for. I use it to convert video from one format to another – mostly avi to m4v so that I can play and archive my videos – TV Shows, Music Videos and Films – within iTunes. For this purpose, the Turbo 264 HD not only doesn’t shine, but almost destroys good video.
I submitted two photos of my results as customer pictures – they show two conversions for comparison. On top is a QT conversion at a lower bitrate. On the bottom is Elgato’s default AppleTV setting. The results for the Turbo device are surprisingly poor. Much darker and with a serious loss of detail. Also, it doesn’t allow you to customize the settings “like a pro” (their words from advertising) – no 2-pass (an obvious requirement), no adding a poster frame, no control over multiple audio tracks, no control over subtitle files, and until the HD software was introduced no modifying the kbps – many the things we expect from QuickTime or ViddyUp or the plethora of dedicated video converters.
Again, it seems Elgato missed an opportunity to make a great, flexible product. It’s a good idea, but not well executed.

|Great consumer device, don’t expect miracles,
This is a great device for accelerating h.264 encoding on the Mac.
I’m giving it 4-stars instead of 5-stars for one reason only: the quality of the encoded quality is not nearly as good as that provided by Quicktime Pro when transcoding 1080p video. The upside: it’s fast. Perhaps this is something Elgato can address in a future software update as the issues involve artifacting during high motion segments and slight softness in general. Perhaps not enough to bother most consumers, but it is readily apparent to anybody that compares the results.
But, when converting standard definition video (such as DVD video_ts) to AppleTV or iPhone/iPod it really impresses with fast and high quality transcodes.
In summary this unit will please consumers wanting to transcode SD video and most HD. Pros or picky consumers will still want to use software methods to transcode 1080p video at the very highest quality.

|Ahh! Much better now with software/firmware update.,
El Gato just released new software/firmware for this product. My previous review gave it only one star because of HD video quality. I’ve revised here to 4 stars. The new transcoder is greatly improved. I use the product with EyeTV software to transcode 1080i to 720p. The output video is now much cleaner. Great for my purposes. Would give an extra star if Elgato gave me more info about customizing/limitations of the Turbo H264 coder settings in EyeTV.

|IPad Printing!,
I bought 2 printers in the last 2 months both HP and both worked OK with the iPad , however it was a chore to print, many times it would print and others not.
Saw this on Amazon and love the Apple looking HP printer.
It was very easy to set up using just the iPad, not any other computer , took less then five minutes, love it, it has a straight plug and not one of those bricks, the look is very art like and it pretty quiet.
Love that the paper tray is hidden and under the front panel.
The touch screen was very fluid like and was easy to scroll, I have a hidden network and set up was very easy found my network in a minute.
The print quality is very good and it faster then my last 2 HPs both current models.
The bests thing it works flawless with my iPad, I can even print EBay shipping labels which I could not before.
I now feel complete without a MacBook.
Update.
I have been getting about 267 prints from a ink carterage which is good, printer can handle all tasks with ease.
Very happy I bought this printer, it looks stunning.
Ink can be found for about 14.00 each refill which is not bad at all.

|very good and almost great,
This is a gorgeous device in search of greatness. It is extremely well built, set up was easy, and it works as expected and as advertised. Print quality and speed in B&W and color is very good although I don’t use this to print large format photographs. The scanner is quite good. The management software is simple and straightforward and the USB (hard wired) and network (wireless) can be individually adjusted. In short, everything works as anticipated.
I think with any multifunction device there are going to be trade-offs that balance price point, performance, and features. I don’t think you will be happy with this printer if you want a quality photo printer but it has only one color ink source so that tells you something. You won’t be happy replacing ink cartridges if you print reams of paper. I wanted a printer that didn’t look like a NASA rover, had good print quality and speed, a good scanner, and wireless capability for a home office. This printer hits the sweet spot for my use and I would purchase it again in a heatbeat.
Why very good and not great? It has it’s weak spots. The print delivery method: open door – tongue out – paper print – tongue back, door close. It needs a little work. The draft setting for color prints tends to produce only a partial page; I guess HP wants you to burn through the color cartridge or maybe it’s intended as a coloration draft only? Software bloat is an issue but that’s easily solved. I’m sure there will be other minor inconveniences but the qauality of the printer and scanner aren’t diminished.
You can definitely buy a better multifunction device but at this price point I haven’t seen anything that competes with this one. And it is a really nice looking piece of equipment. Good luck in your search and hope you find a printer that works as well as this one has for me.

|It worked great for 7 days,
 Â
I loved this printer for 1 week. I printed wirelessly to my Macs and ipad and ipod. Then the printer’s internet connection asked if I would like to update. Stupid me, I said yes. It went into the HP death spiral and not only would not finish the update, but would never work again. After much time on the phone with HP, they offered me a rebuilt unit as a replacement; I said no, the printer is a week old and you can send a brand new one. And are you going to take down the update which destroyed my printer and many others (google HP Envy D410 problems and you will see)
I WOULD GIVE IT 1/2 star if that were possible
Never install the HP updates!!!!
I would add after dealing with HP, I just gave up—-hopeless.
I love Amazon—full refund with no hassles.
I also bought amazon stock today and sold my hp—–eventually those attitudes show much about the company.
Can you believe they are still sending this HP “deathstar” update?

|OK — bad outweighs good in my opinon,
This is a GREAT case for protecting your iphone. The inside comes with a nice felt type material that cushions the phone inside the case. I give the case five stars for the amount of protection that it gives.
Unfortunately, a couple of little things about this annoy the heck out of me. And in my opinion, ruin the case.
The first, which not a lot of reviews talk about, is the fact that the home botton protrudes out, SLIGHTLY. This slight amount though, is enough to be a pain in the butt. I have the 4S. So, if my phone is in my pocket, and I crouch down to tie my shoe, the home button ALWAYS gets held down. So then I hear DING DING (Siri), and then DING DING again (SIRI turning off). It is SOOOOO TOUCHY! I dont even have to hit the actual home button for this to happen. Even if I apply enough pressure to either side of the home button, it does the exact same thing. It is just how the case is designed. I have tried taking the case apart and retrying this about 10 times to make it so the home button would only engage if I actually HIT the button. But nope, every time, applying pressure to the sides of the home button acts the same as hitting the home button itself. I was forced to shut SIRI off, because it would constantly engage if it is just in my pocket. Tie your shoe, lean up against something, WALK, anything, and the home button engages. Turned off siri, only to find out the same thing happens with “VOICE CONTROL” — and “VOICE CONTROL” is worse, because it ends up calling people in my phonebook when the phone is in my pocket.
Bottom line, that is a PAIN IN THE you know what.
The second being, as you have probably read in other reviews, the rainbow effect that is created by the touch thru glass touching the screen of the actual iphone. The first time you put the case on your phone you probably wont notice it. But, as you begin to use the phone, it starts to become visible. Sometimes it gets so bad that it looks like a big dark spot in the middle of your screen with hardcore rainbow effect surrounding that spot. Like a black hole in the middle of a dark screen. Yeah, you can really only see it when the screen is dark, or locked, but it looks really bad either way. So, you are forced to take the phone out of the case, clean the inside of the glass like crazy with the cloth they provide you with the case(that hardly works), only to put it back on and still be able to see the rainbow effect.
Bottom line, this case is HIGH MAINTENANCE. I am talking taking the case apart 1-2 times a day (or more) to clean the inside of the glass to get the rainbow effect to go away. The whole point in having a case is so you dont risk scratching it, and to protect the phone. So, everytime i have to take my $450 iPhone out to clean the touch thru glass, you risk dropping or scratching your phone.
The touch thru glass is good in the fact that there is less of a chance of you actually cutting thru a plastic screen protectant and hurting your screen. But, in my opinion, I am going to take my chance on the clear plastic.
And the home button, most of all is the WORST THING. They could provide me with 10 different colored home buttons, and I wouldnt care because they all dont work properly.
I am looking elsewhere.
Was this review helpful to you?Â
|One major flaw…..,
Such a bummer – everything about this case is perfect – the fit is extrememly tight, size and finish are perfect….BUT: There is no way to avoid the “rainbow effect” between the case’s glass protector and the iPhone’s glass screen. I have tried EVERYTHING – cleaning with soap and water, Windex, alcohol pads, straight isopropyl alcohol, leaving both the screen and the glass in front of fans for an hour after cleaning, etc. No matter what, slide the phone back in the case, there’s a circular, colored “splotch” at the top of the screen. Annoying as heck…..sending the case back.

|Best case I ever had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
I was searching for a case for my new iPhone and found the Ivyskin Quattro 4 Wrangler, it protects it from the elements and scratches, my 3 year old have dropped it multiple times and it is rock solid. I give it 5 stars !!!!!
